Followed by their dear seraphims, Sir Gabriel (age 9), Nemo D. Clown (age 1) and Dracule Gryphon (age 9). And flanked by their brothers, Orion C. Buggy and Oberon M. Buggy (both age 6).

(*Gonna post it as is cuz I don't think I'll ever finish it. I'm not exactly proud of how Mihawk looks or how choppy it is. But it is what it is.)

Sitting here when it just dawned on me that at least three of the Seraphim were used to quell rebellion from World Government nations, presumably violently. Including sweet boy Gabe! 😭😭😭

Aside from feeling awful about it for obvious reasons, the boys think it's proof that they're bad people in Santa's eyes. He sees everything! Since none of them are allowed to stray too far from their respective guardians, they give Dragon a series of apology drawings they all made to give to the Revolutionary Army's new protectorates.

Which are basically like if a child tried to draw a postcard with "Sorry I stole your shadows/sliced your buildings up with strings/drowned you in clay" scribbled onto it.

Gabe rubbed them in some turkey dinner that Mihawk prepared a few days previously because if they couldn't have Papa's cooking, then they could at least smell it and that was just as good, right?

Dragon breaks out the forgery skills, his best holiday themed stationary, and every ounce of whimsy he has, and writes them all a letter.

“It’s come to my attention from a certain Mr. Monkey D that you and your siblings have been convinced you’re all on the naughty list. I’m writing you to clear the air and tell you all that I have checked my list, and I’ve checked it twice, and not a one of you is naughty!

That mean old fellow Sakazuki who made you do all those nasty things, however… why, I’d give him coal, but he’d burn it right up with that temper of his! Ho ho ho!

Dragon gets a call from Crocodile, who is passing on the gratitude of several families, including their own.

Sabo has become not just a cat magnet ever since acquiring his Devil Fruit, but a reptile magnet too.

Lizards scuttle onto his tophat to bask. Tortoises of all sizes shuffle companionably next to him. He fell asleep once and woke up to a giant snake lazily coiled on his chest and flicking its tongue at him as if to sat "Thank you, cozy human"

Sabo can barely be seen in a pile of baby wanis making laser beam chirps as their parents pile them onto the two-legged heating rock with a funny coat and hat.

On one hand, it’s great. He’s more than happy to provide some warmth to some new scaled or shelled friends and catch some quick zzz's himself in the process.

But then there are times when he needs to get up. Be it hunger, a quick stop to the bathroom, or just his general inability to stay still for that long, Sabo like anyone else, needs to stretch his legs every once in a while.

Which leads us to right now. What was supposed to be a day trip to Cross Guild Headquarters has now resulted in the flame emperor becoming the baby wani's new favourite basking rock. Sabo isn’t the kind of monster to ruin someone's nap so he (quietly) calls over his winged little brothers for assistance…which somehow ended up with him becoming their pillow as well! Is this how Dadan had felt all those years ago? He suddenly felt the need to call her up and apologize…

Suddenly his mini den den chirped to life. Sabo managed to reclaim his sleeping arm and pick up.

“Sabo? Where are you? It’s almost time for dinner.”

“Sorry Dad but I have no idea how I’m gonna make it.”

“What’s wrong?”

Sabo quickly took a picture of his cuddly predicament and sent it off. He heard it being received on the other end and a very soft coo.

“You see what I mean now?”

“Yes I- would it be alright if I framed this?”

“Dad!”

Sometimes I think Buggy is beside himself with worry about ensuring his sons don't grow up resentful of each other like what happened with him and Shanks. It was something he was concerned with back when it was just Gabe and Gryphon since they're the same age yet so different in personality. But then Nemo came along and he knows how easy it is for kids to be jealous of the new baby. Hell, he and Shanks felt that way for a time when Momo and Hiyori were brought aboard the Oro Jackson.

It's funny how out of the three dads, Buggy appears to be the most exoerience with children. That worry was something he brought up to Mihawk and Crocodile right away once the Gabriel and Gryphon arrived. It was something the other two didn't even think about, but they eventually came up with a game plan for it and things were going smoothly.

Then, Nemo comes along, and their meticulous plan gets shaken up. Now there is a wildcard. Buggy goes into an internal panic again, but at least he has personal experience with this kind of situation too. He lets the boys help with the baby, but he's adamant that it is not their job and they should help only because they WANT to, not because they HAVE to. He makes time to spend time playing with them, and just them, during his very busy schedule during the day. When one kid is occupied with something else, he finds the other and scoops them up and hugs them, and just sits with them for awhile on their own. Everyone gets special attention. He is making sure of it.

It's something Buggy kind of works through in his own way during all the craziness of adopting a baby into the family, so he hasn't sat down to explain it to Mihawk and Crocodile yet. But, they do start to notice the things he's doing and so they begin copying him. Very quickly, they have a nice rhythm going again that benefits all three children.

It's tempting to get completely absorbed in the unhinged premise of Found, or to get caught-up in the chemistry and tension between leads Shanola Hampton and Mark Paul Gosseler. Many fans are intrigued by the potential of a dark romance between their characters, but if you don't take a moment to analyze it a little further you'll miss that something rare and unusual is happening on the show.

And that's a female character exploring her relationship with darkness in a way that's often reserved for male characters in shows like Hannibal, Interview With The Vampire or You.

As someone who has watched all four shows I often found myself wondering why don't we rarely see dynamics like this with women --I couldn't get into killing Eve-- and what I landed on was that well no one wants to see a woman in that kind of toxic dynamic with a man because of how frequently that happens IRL and the terrible consequences.

But Found manages to create this toxic dynamic by starting the story with its female lead in the position of power. She has Sir her former tormenter locked and chained in her basement. She controls his food, his entertainment, and his life. She has the power whether she feels it fully or not.

Starting the story this point levels what would otherwise be a very unlevel playing field and allows the story to linger in the tension and uncertainty of who Gabrielle Mosely is as a person. Whether or not she can heal from the trauma she suffered as teenager and integrate her dark and light sides or if she will be forever tormented and controlled by this aspect of herself.

I want to write a longer meta about this comparing these stories and the relationships between these characters and how fascinating it is to have a female character exploring her dark side on screen in this way. I have to watch the latest episode of Found first though along with at least reviewing some of the plot points of the shows I mentioned.

But Found, Gabrielle Mosely and this idea of Sir as her shadow-self is sort of living rent free in my head right now and something has to get out on paper.

Jinbei: I thought we were in the practice of saying things that were obvious.

Crocodile: How could you have possibly known??

Jinbei: Well your teeth were a start, although it isn't unheard of for humans to have unique dentition. But things truly clicked into place when I caught sight of your sealed gills in Impel Down. Do you purposefully cover them with your scarves?

Crocodile: No. Most of the time I forget they're even there.

Gabriel: *climbing up Crocodile's back like a little hermit crab* Baba breathes sand with them like fishmen breathe water!

Crocodile: Not even remotely how that works.

Gabriel: I want more shiny green scales!

Jinbei: Your gills appear to have sealed some time within your lifetime rather than while you were yet to be born… had you known, and kept breathing water to accommodate, they likely would still be open today. Perhaps they can be opened with medical intervention?

Crocodile: So you mean I could’ve had a way to breathe underwater if I ever sunk like a stone?

Jinbei: Yes, but your devil fruit would have still rendered you immobile. You would have risked starvation, or being eaten alive by scavengers. Whichever of these came first.

Crocodile: … You know, I think I’d rather drown…

Gabriel: Mr. jinbei? Are Baba and me like sea grape wani? Will I get cool seaweed hair someday?

Jinbei: I am unsure, little one. But we could braid some seaweed into your hair if you’d like?

The boys hearing Sabo's story about how he, Luffy, and Ace became brothers by sharing sake cups and decide "hey, we're brothers so why don't we give that a try?" So later Gryphon steals a bottle of sake from the wine cellar and they do that whole "no matter where we sail (or in this case fly), we'll always be brothers" but when they got to drink it there is INSTANT REGRET IT TASTES LIKE BURNING FRUIT WITH EMPHASIS ON THE BURNING!! 😭😭 EW EW EWW WHY DO GROWN-UPS DRINK THIS?!

Thank the gods Nemo is too busy following the fascinating journey of a trail of ants to even acknowledge the sake.

Honestly when they’re found writhing in alcohol induced agony, it’s decided it was punishment enough (as long as you don’t consider a three way lecture a punishment..)

Honestly though the Cross Guild Dads have no moral high ground since they’ve all snuck into a wine cellar or two in their much too young years, Mihawk especially so, and have gotten drunk before even getting their first chest hairs. Still though, it’s not right! Don’t they know what it could do to their developing brains? Bad stuff! Admittedly Gabe and Gryphon are almost completely out of it so the lecture quickly devolves into helping.

Nemo's still watching the ants, oblivious and sober (and considering how much of a lightweight Buggy is, thank goodness).

I keep thinking about Gryphon perfecting his war paint makeup and meanwhile you have Gabe who has one of those dinosaur mask paints kids can get at those face painting booths at county fairs.

Then there's Nemo who's scribbled all over his face with lipstick and eyeshadow sticks. 😭😭😭

Gryphon is concentrating hard with a mirror, carefully applying dark lines radiating from his eyes, while Gabriel and Nemo are entertaining themselves nearby. The two are giggling and making dinosaur noises. Gryphon's eye twitches and he finally snaps at them, "You guys this is serious! I have to do this carefully if I want to look terrifying! Stop playing around, you're distracting me."

Then Gabe is just like, "I thought you wanted to look cool?"

"I do! Like, 60 percent cool and 40 percent scary. That's the magic ratio, according to Daddy."

"RRAAWWRRR!" Nemo agrees.
